Kentucky - Introducing the fifth release of Old Commonwealth Distillery's iconic Kentucky Nectar, a distinguished expression of wheated Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey finished in a honey cask. Bottled at cask strength and double-oaked, this exquisite bourbon offers a refined balance of robust oak and delicate honeyed sweetness, creating a bold yet harmonious flavor profile. Nose: The copper-colored whiskey offers a heap of dessert notes; vanilla icing, orange zest, sticky toffee pudding, caramel, and butterscotch. And, of course, an undercurrent of honey. It’s deep, rich, and decadent, with hints of baking spices and barrel char coming at the end of the whiff. Palate: Charred oak starts off the sip. It quickly moves to the back of your tongue and blossoms into Cinnamon Toast Crunch meets that ambrosia liquid at the bottom of a fruit cup. The honey barrel and the Kentucky summer impart a robust mouthfeel, heavier than other Nectar releases, coating your mouth well. Notes of vanilla wafer cookies, honey, and toasted pecans show up, too. Finish: Long. Balanced. Just dry enough. Savory and sweet play nicely together; a little baking chocolate and tobacco ultimately ends with a cherry Starburst.
